Event Guidelines

We ask that you please arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled ride to ensure you have enough time to get your horse ready. If you arrive late, we can’t guarantee your ride.

· Cancelation Policy We require a minimum of a 24-hour notice for cancellations in order to refund the deposit or full payment.

· Weather Depending on the time of the year, we may need to cancel or reschedule your ride with very short notice. We do have to cross the Estrella River for our trails, so if it is flowing, we will have to cancel your ride. If this does happen, you’ll have a choice to receive a refund on your payment or use it as credit towards another ride.

· The speed limit for motor vehicles is 15 miles per hour and vehicles may only be driven on gravel roads.

· Horseback riding is only permitted between sunrise and sunset.

· Helmets are provided and required for minors and encouraged but optional for adults.

· Appropriate footwear is required.

· Alcohol should be consumed responsibly.

· Possession or use of firearms, bows, bb guns, paintball guns, and other weapons is prohibited.

· Fires and fireworks are prohibited.

· Pets are prohibited.

· Littering is prohibited.

· All posted signs should be followed (see on our bulletin board)

 

· LEVEL 1 – An easy, shorter ride with mostly level terrain, low grades and good footing.  Trail mostly follows roads or wide, well-defined trails.

· LEVEL 2 – Some grades but not steep or hard.  Can go across country on mostly level ground.

· LEVEL 3 – Footing may be rocky and difficult in places.  May have steep grades and be narrow.  Could be long in length.

· LEVEL 4 – Steep grades, rocky and there may be some steps, negotiating ledges and large boulders.  Could be long in length.

Trail Riding Guidelines

 All guidelines are applicable to guided trail rides. Those highlighted in yellow are not applicable to riders outside of this category.

· Riders must stay on designated trails and may not create new trails.

· green horses prohibited.

· Stallions are prohibited.

· Horses must always be controlled and should not be left off lead.

· Do not lope or run your horse.

· Do not pass another horse on the trail without permission and then only when it’s safe.

· Maintain your position-must be at least one horse-length behind the horse in front. 

· Do not lag behind and lope to catch up .

· On very steep climbs or descents it is proper to wait for clear distance for safety. 

· Do not trot, gait or canter up & down the hills.

· If you need to stop on the trail, tell the trail guide-the whole group will wait.

· Horses that kick or THREATEN to kick should have a red ribbon on their tail.

· Failure to comply with the directives of this letter may result in suspension of trail riding privileges. 

· If your horse’s behavior is unruly you may be asked to bring a different horse for future rides. 

· All gates should be left in the condition found. Open gates should be left open and closed gates should be closed after you pass through.

· Always ride under control and at a safe speed. Be vigilant about hazards that may not be obvious, including, unstable terrain, holes, wild and domestic animals, and motor vehicles.

· Be vigilant around any wild or domestic animals you encounter and do not hunt, approach, chase, or harass them. Hazardous animals that are or may be on the property include rattlesnakes, squirrels, badgers, coyotes, mountain lions, wild pigs, cows, and bulls.

· The water in the troughs is non potable and should not be consumed by humans. The water troughs are also treated with copper

· Bring an adequate supply of drinking water for your journey

· Inform the group leader of any hazards you observe on your ride

· Double riding prohibited.
